Camping Nature Parc l’Ardéchois is a very high-quality, family-run site within walking distance of the amenities of Vallon-Pont-d’Arc. It borders the River Ardèche, and hugely popular canoe trips are run directly from the site. The campsite is just 4 km from the famous Pont-d’Arc, a huge limestone arch spanning the river, and its river beach. A drive along the gorge is a must, with spectacular viewpoints.
Located in an enchanting setting between forests, scrubland, and the Mediterranean Sea, near the seaside resort of Tossa de Mar in Spain, Camping Cala Pola is a luxurious campsite that offers an active holiday experience. Established in the 1950s, the campsite underwent renovations in 2022 and is now a state-of-the-art establishment with high-quality plots, services, and bungalows. There are 90 touring pitches on site, which are spacious and bordered by hedges and shaded by mature trees, giving privacy to each pitch, and all come with water, electricity connections, and drainage. There are also 196 accommodation options, which are well-equipped and come in various sizes to accommodate groups of all sizes.
This is an extensive site set by an attractive weir near the town of Mendigorria alongside the River Arga. It takes its name from an old water mill close by. It features a sophisticated dock and boat launching facility and an ambitious watersports competition programme in the season with a safety boat present at all times. A Roman aqueduct (4km) is well worth a visit, perhaps by bike. July is very busy due to the bull running festival in Pamplona (28 km).
Considered by many to be the best family campsite in Switzerland, Campofelice Camping Village borders Lake Maggiore and the Verzasca estuary, where the site has its own marina. There are 712 generously sized touring pitches on flat grass on either side of hard access roads. Mostly well-shaded, all pitches have electricity connections (13A, 360 Europlug), and 376 also have water, drainage and TV connections. A particular area is reserved for small tents. Pitches near the lake cost more (these are not available for motorhomes until September).
Camping Benisol is a well developed and peaceful site with lush, green vegetation and a mountain backdrop. Mature hedges and trees afford privacy to each pitch and some artificial shade is provided where necessary. There are 270 pitches of which around 90 are for touring units (60-80 sq.m). All have electricity hook-ups (10A) and 75 have drainage. All the connecting roads are now surfaced with tarmac. Some daytime road noise should be expected. The site has an excellent restaurant serving traditional Spanish food at great prices, with a pretty, shaded terrace overlooking the pool with its palms and thatched pool bar.
Brienz, in the Bernese Oberland, is a delightful little town on the lake of the same name and the centre of the Swiss wood carving industry. Camping Aaregg is an excellent site of the highest quality, situated at the eastern end of the lake with breathtaking views across the water to the surrounding mountains.
La Ballena Alegre is a spacious site with almost 2 km. of frontage directly onto an excellent beach of soft golden sand (which is cleaned daily). They claim that none of the 846 touring pitches is more than 100 m. from the beach. The grass pitches are individually numbered, separated by hedges and there is a choice of size (up to 120 sq.m). Electrical connections (10A) are available to all and there are 670 fully serviced pitches. There are several bungalow areas within the site with their own small pools and play areas, and some have shared jacuzzis. This is a great site for families.
This quiet riverside site is on the outskirts of the old town of Haro, the commercial centre for the renowned Rioja wines. It is a family-run site with pleasant pools (open high season). The staff in the modern reception are helpful, and you may get a cheery welcome from Carlos, the owner’s son, who speaks excellent English.
Camping Les Bouleaux is situated on the border of Lorraine and Alsace. From the site, you can take trips to enjoy the largest boat lift in Europe 'Route du Plan incliné', or a marvellous view from a magnificent height or visit the beautiful cities of Strasbourg, Nancy or Metz. If you like centuries-old castles or forts from the First World War you have many to choose from. For children, the Sainte-Croix animal park with more than 1500 European animal species is easily accessible distance from the site.
Camping Gavín is set on a terraced, wooded hillside and you will find a friendly welcome. The site offers 150 touring pitches of 90 sq.m. and with 10A electricity available to all. In some areas the terracing means that some pitches are quite small. The main site buildings have been constructed using natural stone. There are also 13 bungalows and 11 superb, balconied apartments.
This site is immersed in a magnificent forest of centenary pine trees, within the Montes Universales. A natural site built with respect for the environment so visitors can truly enjoy the peace and tranquillity the site has to offer. There is a good selection of pitches, some natural unconventional and others that are flat fully serviced suitable for motorhomes.
Cabo de Gata, situated on the Gulf of Almería, is a pleasant, all-year campsite offering facilities to a good standard. Popular with British visitors through the winter, and within the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Nature Park, set amongst fruit farms, it is only a 1 km. walk to a fine sandy beach. The 250 gravel pitches are level and of a reasonable size, with 6/16A electricity and limited shade from maturing trees or canopies. There are specific areas for very large units, with very high canopies for shade and seven chalets for rent.
Camping 't Geuldal is a family-friendly campsite in the Limburg region of the Netherlands. The site's Southern Limburg location is popular due to its natural setting. With abundant, peaceful countryside, Limburg is ideal for walking and cycling holidays.
Situated in the heart of the Jura mountains and close to historic Ornan, La Roche d’Ully is a spacious, attractive and modern site, surrounded by views of wooded hills and rocky outcrops. There are 115 large pitches, 75 of which are for tourers, most have electricity (10A) and all have access to water. Divided by a variety of bushes and young trees, there is not a great deal of shade.
This delightful, small lakeside site will not disappoint. There are 80 touring pitches, all with 10A electricity, and 13 chalets. Set on a level, grass area, all the pitches are of a good size, mostly divided by mature trees that give excellent shade. Some have wonderful lake views. A pleasant lakeside terrace is part of the bar/reception area where breakfast and snacks are served. This is a picturesque site which will appeal especially to water lovers. A sailing school is only 70 m. away.
This is a large site, part of which directly borders the River Elbe, with 500 pitches, of which 200 are for touring (all with electricity, water and drainage). The main part of the site is located behind a dyke and contains reception and the principal sanitary facilities. Pitches bordering and overlooking The Elbe are serviced by excellent, modern mobile sanitary units containing WCs and washbasins. Along the Elbe’s banks there are sandy areas useful for playing and sunbathing in summer with some showers. Next to the site’s main building there is a further area set aside for touring units and this has easy access to the main sanitary facilities, the bar and restaurant and children’s playground.
Camping Voraparc is a peaceful mountain campsite situated in the Spanish Pyrenees, at the entrance of the large National Park Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici . This campsite is a truly picturesque location, nestled along a river at the end of a valley and surrounded by breath taking mountain views. The campsite sits at an altitude of 1400 meters and is located amidst a veritable walking paradise. On-site, there are 129 touring pitches with 10Amp electric hook-up points available. The grounds are well-maintained with lots of grass and deciduous trees, offering plenty of shade on a sunny day.
In the Bay of Roses, south of Empuriabrava and beside the Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, this is a high quality site of particular interest to nature lovers (especially birdwatchers) and families. A large site, there are 1,110 well kept, large, numbered pitches, all with electricity and on flat, sandy ground. Beautifully laid out, it is arranged around the river and waterways, so will suit those who like to be close to water or who enjoy watersports and boating. It is also a superb beachside site, and there is also accommodation for rental.
This is a relaxed, informal, spacious site alongside an extraordinarily long and beautiful beach. Riva Bella is open all year and is exclusively naturist from 1st April to 5th November only. The site is divided into several areas with 199 pitches (with 6A electricity), some of which are alongside the sandy beach with little shade. Others are in a shady, wooded glade on the hillside.
With a chilled family-friendly vibe, wecamp Santa Cristina sits in a Mediterranean forest surrounded by tall pines and cork oaks. Despite its peaceful setting, this no-frills site’s surprisingly close to the action; should you have enough of lazing by the pool, you could be on a Costa Brava beach in less than 10 minutes.
