The green foliage from the mixed trees and the flowering shrubs makes this 4.5-hectare site very attractive. There has been a campsite here since 1960, but the present owners, the Galidie family, took over in 1982 and the site is now run to a very high standard by their son, François, and his English wife, Jenny. With 250 pitches in total, 136 are taken by mobile homes and chalets, either to let or privately owned. These are mixed amongst the 114 touring pitches which are on level, sandy ground, clearly divided by hedging and all with 10A electricity.

The newer part has been planted in the same way as the original areas. It has less shade but enjoys views across to the mountains. The facilities are opened all season but hours are adapted according to the number of visitors on site. An upstairs bar, newly renovated in 2013, has a long terrace which overlooks the attractive pool complex. A footpath of just less than 1 km. leads to the sandy beach. A new games area for children was built in 2012 and a water play park is planned.

Good modern facilities include small showers for children. Accessible facilities, Laundry. Small shop. Bar, restaurant and takeaway (all season). Heated swimming pool complex including fun pools, whirlpool and paddling pool. Excellent play area. Tennis. Archery. Internet access. Library. Activities for children with miniclub and evening entertainment (most of the season). Bicycle hire. No charcoal barbecues. WiFi over site (charged).

Location

From A9 exit 41 (Perpignan Nord), follow signs for Le Barcarès and Canet (D83). At exit 9 take D81 (Canet), then first left to Le Barcarès (D90). Site is on left after 500 m. next to Le California. Follow narrow lane to site entrance.
