Alan Rogers Review of West Hale Gate Caravan Site
West Hale Gate Caravan Site is a peaceful and relaxing site on a farm where free range chickens roam (providing plenty of eggs for breakfast). It is on the outskirts of the village of Burton Fleming and a short way from the coast. A warm welcome awaits you to this real rural retreat, part of a working poultry farm surrounded by the countryside, with friendly owners Edward and Mandy always on hand if needed. Pitches are set on grass and include electric and water nearby. Campervans, motor homes and caravans are all welcome. It is close to an array of lovely beaches, Hunmanby Gap (5 miles), Bridlington (7 miles), Filey (7 miles), Scarborough (12 miles) and Whitby (33 miles). This is a quiet and spacious site so that you can get in a quality rest. Guests have access to bathroom cabins, each with a shower, toilet and basin so that you’ll have somewhere to freshen up a little before the day. The 12 touring pitches are set on grass and include electric hook-up point 16amp and water nearby. The site also has glamping options, 3 shepherds huts and a lodge. The site does not accept pets or tents.
The site is close to the North Yorkshire border, so there’s much do whichever direction you go. Sewerby Hall, which is only a 10-minute drive away, a fine example of an early Georgian residence and renowned for its gardens and a zoo. Burton Agnes Hall is only a 15-minute drive away. Flamborough Head and RSPB Bempton Cliffs are 10 minutes by car, and boast puffins, gannets, dolphins and seals in their natural habitat. Rudston, another village five minutes’ drive away, has a popular foodie spot in the form of a community pub, you may want to pedal there over the particularly splendid (and flat-ish) bike ride before settling in for a meal.
Facilities at West Hale Gate Caravan Site
Site facilities include three individual proper shower cabins with good water pressure (which also contain toilets), drinking water, grey waste. Chemical toilet waste disposal area. Rubbish bins.
