Alan Rogers Review
Close to the M6 motorway, Waters Edge makes an ideal stopover. However, it is also well worth a longer stay, being centrally situated for visiting the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. Surrounded by farmland, the park is long and narrow with one road running down the centre and the pitches on either side. There are 26 level touring pitches, all with hardstanding. These are open and a little on the small side. At each end of the park there are ten privately owned caravan holiday homes. There is a play area for children, but parents of young children would need to be vigilant here as there are well signed but unfenced fast-flowing streams at both sides of the park.
The attractive reception building contains a small but well stocked shop, and a lounge bar with TV and pool table, The bar opens on to a lovely lawned area with picnic tables and a duck pond. A corner of this grassed area is used for tents. The nearby Crooklands Hotel serves good food, and across the road is the picturesque Lancaster canal where free boat rides can be enjoyed on Sundays during the summer. The busy market town of Kendal is 15 minutes drive with good shopping, a cinema and a swimming pool.
Centrally located heated toilet block, although a little dated, is spotlessly clean and has showers and washbasins in cubicles. Facilities for disabled visitors. Laundry. No motorhome service point. Shop for basics. Bar with TV. Grassy play area.
From M6 exit 36 take the A65 (east) signed Kirkby Lonsdale for 300 yds. At next roundabout take first exit signed Crooklands and Endmoor. Park entrance is 1 mile on the right at Crooklands Motor Co.Link to campsite location map on google
