Although this is quite a large site, this is not immediately apparent with its woodland location. Careful design has allowed both single pitches in little glades and groups on cleared grassy areas with plenty of gentle shade. Some 330 of the pitches are for tourers and all have electricity (10A), water, drainage and cable TV connection, and there is a central area for tents. Cars must be parked at the entrance car park. The very smart reception (more like a hotel than a campsite!) provides information packs in English, with a pleasant restaurant at the rear which the owners call ‘a living room for guests’.

Well kept small animal paddocks and stables entertain the children and a variety of play equipment is around the site, plus a play area with rocks, water and sand. Garderen is a pretty village, 1 km. away, and the area is very suitable for cycling. Adding a new word to the camping vocabulary, the site has three Tree-tents for hire. These drop-shaped, canvas tents with steel frames and wooden floors are suspended from pine trees and accommodate two adults and two children (with access by ladder!) – we have yet to try them! There are other types of innovative accommodation to rent.

Four excellent toilet blocks provide comprehensive, heated facilities with a variety of cabins and showers. Accessible facilities, Well equipped laundry. Gas supplies. Motorhome services. Supermarket. Restaurant (closed Mondays). Snacks. Indoor heated swimming pool and indoor and outdoor heated paddling pools. Tennis. Children’s farm. Play areas. Indoor playground. Entertainment for children in high season. Klimbos (similar to Go Ape). Bicycle hire. Baby equipment hire. WiFi throughout (charged). Tree tents to rent. Dogs are not accepted.

From A1/E30 between Amersfoort and Apeldoorn, take Garderen exit no. 17. Turn right on N310 towards Garderen. Cross the N344, through village and site is signed on Putten road.
