Alan Rogers Review of Terracamps Camping de Tauves
This site, at an altitude of 850 m, is under a long term management contract by a friendly family. It is only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village of Tauves in the beautiful Parc des Volcans with its many extinct volcanoes and is ideal for touring on foot, bike or in the car. There are 75 grass pitches on terraces, many with views of the Massif du Sancy. Of these, 61 are for touring, separated by hedges and trees offering good shade and some privacy (10A electricity). This is a tranquil site keen on nature conservation. Part of the site is left wild to encourage wildlife.
The village of Tauves, with its narrow streets, has a regular general market on Thursdays selling local produce and clothing. There are several small shops including supermarkets. The campsite has exclusive use of the municipal sports facilities in July and August. The area close to the swimming pool and wooden chalets is a car free zone. Communal areas are available for use in poor weather or evening soirées when spit-roasts may be available. The picturesque châteaux of Val and Murol are within 10 km. Bicycles for young children are available from reception.

Two well appointed toilet blocks with accessible facilities. Motorhome services. Small shop (July/Aug). Bread to order. Heated swimming and paddling pools (mid June-mid Sept). Play area. Volleyball, basketball, handball, football. Communal barbecue (charcoal barbecues are not permitted). WiFi throughout (charged).Self-catering facilities for campers on foot or bicycle. TV room with poolroom and baby foot.
