Alan Rogers Review of TCS Camping Orbe
Owned by the Touring Club Suisse, Camping Le Signal is located north of Lausanne, with good access to Lake Geneva and the sandy beaches of Lake Neuchâtel. There are 110 touring pitches here, all with 6A electricity. They are grassy and shaded by mature pines – some slope and levelling blocks would be useful. Three fully equipped tents are available to rent. On-site amenities include a superb swimming pool, 18-hole minigolf (both next door but free to campers), small shop, bar and children’s playground. A children’s club is organised in July and August. Other entertainment includes sausage evenings, occasional dances and walking excursions in the area.
The site has good access to the Swiss motorway network and would be suitable for an en route stop as well as a few days quiet retreat. Orbe is a pleasant small town with a good selection of shops, cafés and restaurants. Its history dates back to the Roman era and a number of mosaics and ruins can be seen. The Gorges de l’Orbe are popular with walkers and the river is also excellent for fly fishing. This is also an important wine producing area and a number of vineyards offer dégustations. The resident manager is more than helpful.

The usual sanitary facilities are provided and include accessible facilities. Washing machine and dryer. Shop. Bar/snack bar and takeaway. Swimming pool and minigolf adjacent (both free to campers). Play area. Occasional activities (including a club for children). Bouncy castle. Internet point and WiFi. Tents to rent.

Approaching from the north or south on A1/N1 motorway take exit 23 to the N9. Exit at J3 towards Orbe. Entering the town, take the filter lane to Route du Signal – signed Pool and Campsite.
