Alan Rogers Review of Sites et Paysages le Mas du Padre
Mas du Padre is a very pleasant little site run by the Durand family and it makes a good base from which to explore the Sète area or ‘take the waters’ at Balaruc-les-Bains. Madame Durand speaks excellent English. On a hillside, just 2.5 km. from Balaruc-les-Bains and near the Etang de Thau (famous for oysters), this small site is unusually situated in a residential area that has obviously developed around it over the years. The 113 secluded pitches are of varying sizes and are marked by hedges, mature trees and shrubs. Some are on a very gentle slope and hard ground. There are 88 touring pitches with 6/10A electricity and 25 mobile homes to let including one adapted for those with reduced mobility.
From the top of the site there are views towards Sète. Beaches and many local attractions are close. The site is peaceful and popular with the French who love its simplicity, although a large commercial centre is just 500 m. If you decide to stay here it would be advisable to have transport. The road from the site to Sète passes some rather unsightly factory works – do not be put off. Reception is open 09.00-12.00 and 16.00-19.00 and newspapers and bread can be ordered the day before.
Facilities at Sites et Paysages le Mas du Padre
Well equipped toilet blocks include baby changing area. Accessible facilities. Washing machines. Reception sells bread, drinks and ice-cream. Swimming pool (open and heated 18/4-27/9), plus one for children. Half-court tennis, boules, mini adventure playground. Sports programme, tournaments, aquarobics, entertainment for children, weekly dance when a temporary bar is organised (all in high season). WiFi on part of site (free for half an hour).
Directions to Sites et Paysages le Mas du Padre
From A9, exit Sète, follow N800 to Balaruc-le-Vieux, first roundabout (D2), second roundabout both following Balaruc-les-Bains/Sète. After 50 m. right for Balaruc-les-Bains, immediately left across road, double back down it (50 m). Immediately right, follow Chemin du Mas du Padre.
