Prerow is a seaside resort on the Baltic coast midway between the historic Hanseatic towns of Rostock and Stralsund. Regenbogen Camping is a large site with some 1,250 pitches and extends over two and a half kilometres along a wide, white sand beach. Pitches for caravans overlook the sea, while campers can set up their tents directly on the dunes. Rental accommodation includes tents, caravans, mobile homes and bungalows.

The nearby Darss Forest has an extensive network of footpaths and cycleways, a bridleway and tracks for horse-drawn carriages. West of the forest is West Beach – wild and romantic with rugged terrain formed by wind and waves. South of Prerow is the fascinating watery ‘bodden’ countryside - a birdwatchers’ paradise where you can take a trip on a steam paddleboat.

Bodden are lagoons of briny water with a distinctive geological origin and are enclosed by peninsulas, spits and islands, leaving only narrow connections to adjacent bodden or the open sea. The nearest town is Ribnitz-Damgarten, known as Bernsteinstadt (Amber Town). It has a long history and you can still watch the production of amber jewellery. Further south is the bustling city of Rostock.

Directions to Regenbogen Prerow

Prerow is 64 km. northeast of Rostock. From A20 Lübeck/Rostock motorway at exit 16 take A19 north to Rostock-Ost. Leave at exit 6 and follow B105 to Ribnitz-Damgarten, then turn north on L21 to Prerow. Site is north of village.
