Alan Rogers Review of RCN Val de Cantobre
Imaginatively and tastefully developed by the Dupond family over 30 years, this delightful terraced site is now owned by the RCN group. Most of the pitches have 10A electricity (and most with water) are peaceful, generous in size and blessed with views of the valley. The terrace design provides some peace and privacy, especially on the upper levels. Rock pegs are advised. An activity programme is supervised by qualified instructors in July and August, and a new pleasure pool has been added. The magnificent carved features in the bar create a delightful ambience, complemented by a recently built terrace.
Passive recreationists appreciate the scenery, especially Cantobre, a medieval village that clings to a cliff in view of the site. Nature lovers will be delighted to see black vultures wheeling over the gorges alongside more humble rural residents.
Butterflies in profusion, orchids, huge edible snails, glow worms, families of beavers and the natterjack toad all live here.
RCN Val de Cantobre is a campsite with a charming repurposed French country house in the main area that provides character as well as the comfort of all the essential facilities for a pleasant stay on the countryside in Aveyron. The biggest sanitary blocked has recently been renovated, and an excellent welcome booklet is provided on arrival.

The fully equipped toilet blocks are well appointed and include accessible facilities. Fridge hire. Well stocked shop including many regional specialities, attractive bar, restaurant with large screen TV, pizzeria and takeaway (all season). There is some fairly steep up-and-down walking from furthest pitches to some facilities. Heated outdoor swimming pools with lazy river (all season). Minigolf. Play area. Activity programme. Bicycle hire. All-weather multisports pitch. Torch useful. WiFi over site (free). Motor home service point. Chemical toilet point. Boules pitch. Defibrillator.

Site is 4 km. north of Nant, on D991 road to Millau. From Millau take D991 signed Gorge de la Dourbie. Site is on left, just past turn to Cantobre.
