Toppershoedje is a great choice for a seaside holiday. A large, sandy beach is easily reachable on the other side of the dunes (five minutes on foot). This beautiful beach is probably the main appeal of this site, particularly as it gently slopes into the sea and is therefore ideal for children. Even in high season, the beach is never crowded. Toppershoedje has spacious, grassy pitches with 10A electricity, but shade is limited. It is located at the western end of the island of Goerre-Overvalkkee, and close to Lake Grevelingen. This lake is very popular with watersports enthusiasts.

The island still has a number of old fishing villages, such as Ouddorp and it is also possible to easily access the neighbouring islands of Zeeland, thanks to the Delta Works. This combination of dams and dykes is the world’s largest system to protect the land from the sea. The island of Neeltje Jans has an exhibition about this project, with a number of exhibits specially targeted at children.

Directions to RCN Toppershoedje

Head towards the centre of Ouddorp on N57 signed Oosterweg. Follow this road for 1.5 km. and turn left at the last T-junction onto Vrijheidsweg. Turn left at the next roundabout 600 m. and then turn right after 200 m.
