Het Grote Bos (the large forest) is ideally located for a tranquil woodland holiday, but is also an ideal base to explore the western part of the Netherlands, or for visits to Amsterdam, Utrecht and Amersfoort. The site is located in the grounds of a former estate called Hydepark, and the prevailing atmosphere still reflects this parkland setting. Touring fields with 270 pitches are surrounded by high trees and are marked out by shrubs and hedges. Leisure amenities include attractive play areas, a heated outdoor pool complex (with slides and a children’s pool) and a multisports terrain. A survival course has been built in the trees around the site.

There are many beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside, and the site managers will be pleased to recommend routes. Alternatively, a visit to the nearby town of Doorn is recommended. This town is home to the castle of the last German Emperor, Wilhelm II, who fled there at the end of the First World War. Important cities like Utrecht and Amersfoort are also close at hand, both with attractive canals and tall, gabled houses. On rainy days, you might take the children to the zoos of Amersfoort or Rhenen.

Directions to RCN Het Grote Bos

From A12 motorway take Driebergen/Rijsenburg exit and turn right on N225 towards Driebergen/Rijsenburg. Turn left after 200 m. (Loolaan) and then (600 m) take second exit on the roundabout. Turn left in 2.5 km. on Hydeparklaan to site.
