Alan Rogers Review
Ord House is a 44-acre park for 260 privately owned holiday homes and 74 touring caravan and tent pitches. The park has a very well cared for appearance throughout, with well mown grass and colourful arrays of flowering bushes. Ord House itself, an 18th-century mansion, has been tastefully converted to provide a bar, lounge bar and family room. The touring pitches (all with 16A electricity, 39 also with water and drainage) are on hardstandings, in small sections, some of which are sloping. Twelve level pitches are in the more secluded walled garden, separated by shrubs and camomile lawns.
At the entrance to the park an area with a few pitches is suitable for wheelchair users and close by is a small sanitary unit with WCs and showers plus a large, unisex, well appointed unit (Radar key). The whole site is wheelchair friendly with good access to the airy reception. Although there are many caravan holiday homes, they are not overwhelming and their presence does mean that other amenities can remain open all season. A member of the Best of British group.
The main, modern toilet building is of excellent quality and cleanliness, very well maintained and can be heated. Two good large family bathrooms (with two showers, a bath, WC and washbasin). Two accessible rooms. Large well equipped laundry. Motorhome services. Camping shop with gas supplies. Bar, bar meals and family room. Crazy golf. Draughts. Two excellent play areas, one for ball games. Commercial vehicles are not accepted. Dogs accepted by prior arrangement. WiFi (free in clubhouse, rest of site charged).
