Alan Rogers Review
Sitting on the banks of the River Lowther this holiday park occupies 50 acres of rural, wooded parkland, home to the rare red squirrel. There are 400 caravan holiday homes and lodges around the park, together with 70 touring pitches. A proportion of these are taken by seasonal lets. Marked and numbered, on mostly level ground between mature trees, all have 10A electricity and hardstanding. A separate elevated grass area is available for tents, and two pods have been added. There is a small touring office with 24 hour security adjacent to the holiday home sales office. Here too is a well stocked, licensed shop also selling some caravan accessories. The Squirrel Inn is open all season and serves restaurant meals and takeaways.
Outside is a large paved seating area with a play area to one side. A lovely riverside walk has been created with many benches to rest and enjoy the birds and other wildlife.
Facilities
Two toilet blocks are central to the touring areas (key entry). Very clean, they provide large, preset showers. Fully equipped bathroom with baby changing. Drive-through motorhome service. Well equipped laundry. Full Accessible sanitary facilities(Radar key). Licensed shop. Squirrel Inn with restaurant, terrace and games room. Play areas. Fly fishing on river (permit from office). Location
From M6 exit 40 take A66 towards Scotch Corner (signed Brough) for 1 mile. At roundabout take A6 south for 1 mile towards Shap. Lowther is on the right after the village of Eamont Bridge.
