Alan Rogers Review of Levenwick Campsite
Levenwick Hall Campsite is a small site located on the southern tip of the beautiful Shetland Islands, the site offers a unique and tranquil experience for those looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is situated in a stunning location, surrounded by rolling hills and spectacular sea views. The site is ideal for those exploring the local area, with plenty of activities to keep you entertained. There are many walking and cycling routes nearby, as well as a variety of water sports, such as kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing. For those looking for something a bit more adventurous, there is also rock climbing, abseiling, and coasteering available in the surrounding area. The site offers occasional live music during the summer and a communal BBQ area. There are also various restaurants and pubs nearby, offering a variety of local cuisine.
A volunteer site warden will visit the site each day, generally in the afternoon or evening. A secluded community garden just below the site is a peaceful place to sit, picnic, take in the panoramic views and listen and watch for birds such as curlew, oystercatcher, great skua and many more. You may be very lucky and see orcas, dolphins or porpoises and you will certainly see seals. Shetland sheep and ponies often graze on croft land near the site. Levenwick is the perfect spot for star gazing.
