Camping Stortemelk is located on the West Frisian island of Vlieland, separated from a broad sandy beach by high dunes. The island is car (and caravan) free, therefore this is a traditional tent campsite. with around 900 pitches.

Pitching is haphazard, partly on the grassy dunes with some good views of the campsite. Most fields are slightly sloping and special long sand pegs are needed (these can be provided at reception). There are specific fields for youngsters and groups.

A number of attractive, traditionally-styled chalets are available to rent. On-site amenities include De Bolder, a convivial café/restaurant, which is the base for concerts, as well as the campsite’s activity programme. Strict rules apply for nighttime curfew.

There is a large car park in Harlingen and a frequent ferry service to Vlieland (advance booking essential). Upon arrival in Vlieland, your luggage can be transported to the campsite by horse and cart (for a small fee). Alternatively, a bus service is available. There is only one small village on the island, Oost-Vlieland, easily accessible by bicycle.

Five modern toilet blocks are well distributed over the site and provide open style washbasins, preset hot showers, attractive children’s facilities and a baby room. Accessible Facilities. Directions to Kampeerterrein Stortemelk

Harlingen can be reached from the A7 or A31 motorways. In Harlingen, follow signs to ferry port and large car park, where you must leave your vehicle. The ferry journey lasts around 1.5 hours and there is a connecting bus and luggage service on the island.
