Alan Rogers Review of Irondale Touring Caravans and Campsite
Irondale Touring Caravans and Campsite is an adult-only site near the quaint village of Stanton by Dale at the rear of The Chequers Inn, an award-winning and traditional country pub. You will pitch up on the doorstep of open countryside on a site with just six pitches, five all-weather pitches, and one all-weather grass tent pitch, each serviced with a 16-amp hook-up point and picnic benches.
On-site, you will also find a tranquil fishing lake. Easy access to many nearby footpaths, a 20-minute walk to a golf course and just five minutes from junction 25 on M1. All bookings for food at the Chequers Inn must be made in advance, along with your choice of food, by mid-day of the evening you wish to eat. Dogs are welcome both on the site and in the pub at no additional cost. The site does not have a toilet block. Upon checking in, you will be handed a welcome pack and a key, allowing 24-hour access to the pub's toilet and hand wash facilities.
Head to Nottingham city centre for the castle, shopping and the interactive National Justice Museum. Pull up to one of the city's park and rides and take the tram. On the outskirts of Nottingham is Wollaton Hall, an Elizabethan country house with a deer park and formal gardens. Batman's mansion in The Dark Knight Rises was filmed here. On site, wildlife of all kinds are common sights close by with Buzzards, Red Kites, Deer, Foxes and Badgers amongst some of the birds and wild animals you are likely to see.
