This pleasant, level park occupies over seven hectares on both banks of the pretty Avonmore River near the small town of Rathdrum. It has 110 pitches arranged around a boating pond. The pitches are primarily concrete hardstanding, with a few on grass. All have 16A Europlugs and close access to a water tap and waste drainage. Across a fine footbridge is a large, flat area for tents – most used by families during high season.

This site boasts one of the best outdoor adventure play areas in Ireland, offering hours of entertainment for children of all ages. There is an extensive outdoor adventure play area, Football pitch, Archery, digital paintballing and crazy golf rowing boats and canoes available for hire on the park’s shallow lake as well as the inflatable aqua park. The Lakehouse restaurant is on-site and offers a full menu, kid’s meals, drinks, desserts, a coffee bar and ice cream. The site also has a shop selling basic supplies.

Rathdrum’s reputation for picturesque houses, pubs and restaurants makes it a popular location for film shoots. Nearby are the Wicklow Mountains, Powerscourt House, Glendalough, the Meeting of the Waters and the Vale of Avoca. Glendalough valley is nearby, which boasts two lakes, a monastic settlement, and a number of hiking trails. The Georgian city of Dublin is about 50 kilometres by road or rail (station in Rathdrum).

Well-equipped and very modern toilet block finished in local slate. Accessible facilities and motorhome services. Laundry. Hobs for cooking. Small shop, bar, restaurant and takeaway (all April-Sept). Fishing in the river may be arranged, combat laser tag, junior splash park (from late April), arts & crafts, adventure mini golf, kayaking, bumper boats, paddle boats, cinema, kid’s disco, bingo, football, water balls (u12’s), playgrounds, space net, giant tube slides and downhill tubing. Bicycle hire. Log cabins to rent. Dogs must be kept on a lead. WiFi.

Directions to Hidden Valley Caravan & Camping Park

Leave M11 at exit signed Rathnew. From this village follow signs for Rathdrum (approximately15 minutes). Over the bridge approaching Rathdrum turn right immediately at large new apartment building. Take care over speed humps for 100 metres. Park gate is on the right.
