Alan Rogers Review of Grønhøj Strand Camping

Grønhøj Strand Camping is a large site of 500 pitches (100-150 sq.m), of which 250 are for tourers. They are arranged in small enclosures of 10-12 units, surrounded by trees and tall hedges, all with 13A electricity (long leads may be necessary). Despite this being a large site, the layout is such that it gives the feeling of camping on a small site in the country. There are two camping areas where dogs are not permitted, plus a separate field for tents. Although not as modern as some sites, all the facilities are very good, clean and well maintained. The kitchen for campers is an excellent addition. There are three play areas around the site, and the main attraction is one of the finest bathing beaches in Europe which is just 700 m. away.

Opposite the new pitches and next to the playground is an animal farm with a family of goats. Pony rides are available on site. The TV rooms with games are welcome amenities during inclement weather. Possibilities for excursions in the area include Fårup Sommerland, a large play paradise for children, the Nordsømuseet in Hirtshals where you can learn all about the North Sea, and the zoo in Aalborg.

Four good, clean sanitary facilities include some washbasins in cabins, and controllable hot showers (DKK 5). Family shower rooms. Baby room. Campers’ kitchen. Sauna (charged). Basic accessible sanitary facilities. Washing machine and dryer. Motorhome services. Shop (fresh bread daily). Solarium. Animal park. Playground. Football field. 10-pin bowling. Minigolf. TV/games room. Free WiFi.

From Aalborg follow the 55 road north. Drive past Ingstrup and turn left at sign for Grønhøj Strand. Follow the site signs.
