This privately owned site makes an excellent night stop when travelling to and from Hungary as it lies close to the M1 motorway to the east of Györ. It is set amidst pine trees with pitches that are not numbered, but are marked out by small shrubs, in a small clearing or between the trees (firm pegs needed). With space for about 40 touring units, all with electrical connections (6A), and eight simple, one roomed bungalows and four en-suite rooms. On one side of the site, fronting the road, is the reception and bar (hot food available for camp guests; menu in English).

The site is an excellent base to explore this part of Hungary, with Györ close by, and the ancient monastery of Pannonhalma only 35 km further. Reception by Mrs. Olah is very friendly and her mother can provide you with a good meal at an affordable price. English is spoken.

Facilities at Gasthof Camping Pihenö

A single, small, basic toilet block has just two showers for each sex (on payment) and curtained, communal dressing space. Baby room. Room for washing clothes and dishes with small cooking facility. Washing machine. Order bread at reception the previous evening. Shop (1/5-30/9). Bar. Restaurant with good menu and reasonable prices. Solar heated swimming pool and children’s pool (10x5 m, June-Sept). Some road noise can be heard.

Coming from Austria via the M1 motorway, take the exit for Györ and continue on the no. 1 road towards Budapest. Site is 3 km. to the east of Györ on the left.
