Alan Rogers Review of Fornæs Camping
In the grounds of a former farm, Fornæs Camping is about 5 km. from Grenå. From reception, a wide gravel access road descends through a large grassy field to the sea. Pitches to the left are mostly level, to the right slightly sloping with some terracing and views of the Kattegat. The rows of pitches are divided into separate areas by colourful bushes and each row is marked by a concrete tub containing a young tree and colourful flowers. Fornæs has 320 pitches of which 240 are for tourers, the others being used for seasonal visitors. All touring pitches have 10A electricity.
At the foot of the site is a pebble beach with a large grass area behind it for play and sunbathing. There is also an attractive outdoor pool near the entrance with two slides, a paddling pool, sauna, solarium and whirlpool. Here a comprehensive room serves as a restaurant, takeaway and bar, and in a former barn there is a new games room. Fornæs provides a good base from which to explore this part of Denmark or for taking the ferry to Hjelm island or to Sweden.

Two partly refurbished toilet blocks have British style toilets, washbasins in cabins and controllable hot showers. Children’s section and baby room. Family shower rooms. Accessible sanitary facilities. Fully equipped laundry. Campers’ kitchen. Motorhome services. Shop. Café/grill with bar and takeaway (evenings). Swimming pool (80 sq.m) with paddling pool. Sauna and solarium. Play area and adventure playground. Games room with satellite TV. Minigolf. Fishing. Watersports.
Directions to Fornæs Camping
From Århus follow the 15 road towards Grenå and then the 16 road towards town centre. Turn north and follow signs for Fornæs and the site.
