In the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d’Auvergne, the Domaine occupies an attractive position on the lakeside, surrounded by wooded hills and with direct access to the beach and facilities. A Range of chalets and luxury cottages, including two log cabins are available, plus ten rooms in the lakeside hotel. There are 119 touring pitches, 80 with electricity connection (16A), either in the open or part-shaded and some have views directly across the lake towards the Volcan de Tartaret. A separate area has 15 motorhome parking spaces equipped with electricity, water and a service point, available at a reduced rate. The surrounding countryside offers endless opportunities for exercise and exploration.

There are 600 km. of marked trails, whilst the more adventurous may choose quad biking, canoeing, downhill mountain biking, hot air ballooning or paragliding. There are numerous volcanic peaks affording spectacular views, including the Puy de Sancy and the Puy de Dôme The area is also rich in history, with the Château of Murol nearby and two of France’s Plus Beaux Villages, Besse and Saint-Saturnin, only a short drive away. Those hankering for busy streets and retail therapy might choose to take a day out in the historical city of Clermont-Ferrand.

Directions to Domaine du Lac Chambon

Chambon is 40 km. south of Clermont-Ferrand. From north on A75 free motorway (Clermont-Ferrand/Béziers) leave at exit 6 and head south on D978 to Champeix, then turn west on D996 for 19km. to Murol. From south leave at exit 14 to Issoire then head west on D996 to Champeix and Murol. At roundabout west of Murol, turn south on D996B to lake and campsite.
