Alan Rogers Review of Domaine des Chênes
The campsite is run by a friendly family in the southwest Ardèche, only 2 km. from the village of Les Vans. There are 122 pitches with only 25 small to medium sized pitches for touring. Electricity (10A) is available. The pitches are laid out on steep terraces, with some having good shade and others having good views over the surrounding hillside. There is a magnificent pool complex ideal for young children. A bar and restaurant with a takeaway is open all season. The site is not suitable for large outfits due to a narrow approach road and steep site roads with tight bends.
This is a good site from which to explore the nearby Ardèche region.
Facilities at Domaine des Chênes
Two very well appointed toilet blocks with all the necessary facilities including those for children accessible sanitary facilities although the site itself is not ideal for those with walking difficulties). Washing machine. Motorhome services. Shop (July/Aug). Bar/restaurant with takeaway. Small bar and games room by pool. Excellent swimming pool complex ideal for young children, fitness room and sauna (May-Sept). Some organised activities in high season. Miniclub (5-12 yrs). Only gas barbecues are permitted.
Directions to Domaine des Chênes
Leave Alès northeast on the D904,signed Aubenas. Continue through St Ambroix, and after a further 13 km. just beyond St Paul-le-Jeune, turn left on D901. After 6 km. turn right on D295, site signed. Descend to sharp right hand turn and shortly to site.
