Situated on the Lizard Peninsula, the first impression of Chy Carne is of a traditional site with little stone bungalows and mobile homes at the entrance, but from the touring fields there are spectacular views of the sea and cliffs at Kennack Sands. In season, the owners erect large marquees so that the bar and takeaway have their own internal area to eat, drink and relax in. There is plenty of entertainment and music provided. The caravan field is level but the tent field is sloping with some terracing. The 150 pitches are marked by low, white chain fencing, some 100 with 10/16A electricity, and 60 with hardstanding. Some mobile homes and chalets are available to rent.

There is a pathway through the fields to Kennack Sands, a blue flag beach with lifeguards in high season. There is also a café and the odd gift shop. The sand is a greyish colour, but it is a very popular beach with an extremely narrow access road. There is a good play area on site. The marquees seem to be the focus of the site and everything happens there.

Facilities at Chy Carne Holiday Park

One quite large toilet block is near the touring fields, with a small one at the far end. Fully equipped with showers (pink for ladies and blue for men) on payment (50p/5 mins). Double sized shower for use by families and those with accessibility needs. Laundry/washing up room. Shop, bar and takeaway selling pizzas (July/Aug when the marquees are put up). Games room with arcade games. Play area. Mobile fire baskets and chimneys available for hire. WiFi.

Directions to Chy Carne Holiday Park

From Helston take A3083 towards the Lizard. Pass sign for Mullion then watch for left turn for Ruan Minor, following signs for Kuggar. Site almost immediately on left on road to Kennack sands. Bear right in Kuggar to site on left.
