In an idyllic setting on the bank of the River Aisne, la Croix du Vieux Pont is a very smart, modern, 34-hectare site offering a wide range of high quality facilities. Many pitches are occupied by chalets and mobile homes and there is a large tour operator presence, but there are 100 pleasant touring pitches, all with 6A electrical connection and water tap. They are mostly in the older part of the site; some have concrete bases, a grass verge and a quaint stone-built barbecue with covered patio. It is easy to escape the noise and find peace around the lakes.

The life of the site revolves around the impressive pool and leisure complex with bar and terrace overlooking the outdoor adventure pool and, in complete contrast, around the three lakes, the larger two being well stocked with perch; they are also used for pedalos and canoes. Around the smaller central pool are a bar/restaurant, a sandy beach and various sporting activities. The tree-lined bank of the Aisne runs along the whole length of the site. Trips are organised regularly to Paris and Disneyland in the site's own modern coaches. Tickets are also on sale for Parc Asterix. A full range of shops, bars and restaurants is to be found in the historic towns of Soissons to the east and Compiègne to the west. Both were dramatically affected by events of World War 1, which can be traced in various museums in the area. The Armistice was signed near Compiègne.

Facilities

The ten toilet blocks vary in style but are all modern and kept very clean, with washbasins in cabins, some with en-suite WC or shower and washbasin and free hot showers. Laundry facilities. Most have excellent accessible suites and baby rooms. Motorhome services. Large supermarket and bakery. Bar, pizza and burger bars and takeaway; good value pool-side restaurant and lake-side ‘Macao’ bar, café and restaurant (most amenities 1/4-30/9). Evening entertainment near both bars in high season. Swimming pool complex (covered pools with retractable roofs 1/4-30/10, outdoor adventure pool with lazy river 1/4-30/9). Games rooms. Covered multisports area. Play areas. Fishing. Bicycle hire. Trampoline. Minigolf. Archery. Karting. Climbing tower. Beach volleyball. Apartments, chalets and mobile homes to let. WiFi in bar area (charged).

Location

From Compiègne take N31 towards Soissons. At site sign, turn left onto D2 to Vic-sur-Aisne then right on D91 towards Berny-Riviere and follow signs to site on right at La Fabrique. From Soissons take N31 towards Compiègne and at site sign turn right on D17 then sharp left on D19 to Berny-Rivière. Site is on the left after village and entrance is clearly signed.
