Alan Rogers Review of Camping Vell Empordà
Camping Vell Empordà is a friendly, family site close to the resort of Roses on the northern Costa Brava and the outskirts of the small town of Garriguella. There are 210 touring pitches, all with 6A or 10A (extra) electricity connections. Smaller pitches are available for campers with tents. Additionally, a range of fully equipped wooden chalets are to rent. The site is terraced and well-shaded.
On-site amenities include a good restaurant and a well-stocked supermarket. There is a pleasant bar with a large terrace on site, a prominent attractive swimming pool and a separate children’s pool adjacent. The site has a strong Spanish presence and a loyal European clientèle, including some British tourists who have been visiting for many years.
Close by Garriguella is a typical small Spanish town with an interesting church, Santa Eulalia de Noves. Roses, some 7 km. away, is a smart and lively resort with a wealth of shops, cafés, restaurants and entertainment. The town is also home to a fine citadel, built by the Greeks, from where there are stunning views over the Bay of Roses and the town. This site is ideal for those who want a welcoming and authentic country location away from the larger resorts but within easy reach of local beaches and attractions.
