Camping Valdisole

Italy, Lazio, Bolsena

Alan Rogers Review of Camping Valdisole

Camping Valdisole is on the banks of Lake Bolsena, with walks, horse riding, water sports and historic estate visits all nearby, and plenty of comfy hammocks, shaded lawns and a beach catering for those seeking rather less energetic ways to pass their days. The owners have chosen to keep their site as natural as possible to ensure the facilities have minimal impact. The site has 150 touring pitches with electric hook-up points available. There’s a large open space to run about and play games of football or volleyball, a playground and plenty of scope for woodland walks or games in among the forest of native trees. Stroll over to the bar-restaurant where snacks, meals and drinks are served up either inside or out on the sunny/shaded terrace. Or take the DIY approach by picking up bits and bobs at the mini market and selecting a spot for a picnic by the lake beach.

The site is the ideal starting point to reach the most important art cities in Italy; its distance is little more than one hour. Among these Rome, Florence, Siena, Perugia, Assisi and Viterbo. The surroundings are rich in paths where you can practice trekking and horseback riding. Close by is the trail of the Via Francigena and the path of the Brigands.
