Alan Rogers Review
Camping Václav is situated on the country's western edge, close to the German border on the banks of the Jesenice Lake. The lake is safe for swimming and sailing, cycle trails start from the campsite, and the Soos nature reserve is nearby. Václav is in the ‘spa triangle’, giving visitors a choice of three different spas – Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázné and Frantiskovy Lázné. Guests at Camping Václav can take advantage of discounts for Frantiskovy Lázné.
The site is on two levels – the lower one, which is slightly sloping, has beautiful views over the lake and to the wooded hills beyond. The upper level, which is newer and has an excellent new toilet block, offers less shade. The 140 grassy touring pitches are generous (100-150 sq.m), open and sunny, all with 10A electricity. There is water and drainage on 10 pitches.
The welcoming terrace, with good views over the lake, is a good spot for sampling the famous Czech Pilsen beer with a good meal. From the site there is easy access to the nature reserve of Soos (either on foot, by bicycle or canoe) and day trips to Karlovy Vary and other important historical sites are possible.
Two new modern sanitary blocks with open style washbasins, controllable hot showers and facilities for disabled visitors. Washing machine and dryer. Motorhome services. Small shop for drinks and ice-creams. Bar/restaurant. Football field. Tennis. Fishing. Play area. Lake for swimming and boating. Communal barbecue. Internet access. WiFi (free).
LocationComing from the west on the 21 road, follow the signs Centrum-Cheb and then Podhrad. From there follow signs for Kemp Václav. On the motorway take exit 146 Podhrad. Link to campsite location map on google
