A popular site right beside the sea, Sol à Gogo has 197 level, sandy pitches, of which just five are used for touring units. Each pitch has electricity (10A, Europlug) and they are clearly marked by bushes and a few trees, providing a degree of shade and privacy. There is a gate giving direct access to a sandy beach (guarded in high season), which makes it a popular site with families and there is also a well-designed pool complex, with a sunbathing area, overlooked by a pleasant bar and terrace. A high proportion of the pitches (130) are occupied by tour operators. The bar and takeaway are available all season and the whole site is very much geared to the English-speaking holidaymaker.

There is no shop, although the takeaway does keep some essentials and has fresh bread and croissants every morning; in addition, there is a small supermarket a short walk away. Nearby Saint Hilaire has a good range of bars, restaurants and shops and there is also a large supermarket conveniently located. A little further along the coast are the busy fishing port and resort of Saint Gilles Croix-de-Vie to the south and the ever-popular Saint Jean-de-Monts to the north. Boat trips to the interesting Ile d’Yeu operate from Saint Hilaire, whilst a pleasant day out can be had on the Ile de Noirmoutier (reached by a bridge). The Vendée region offers a wide range of activities and sight-seeing opportunities.

Two clean and well designed toilet blocks include washbasins in cabins and preset showers. Separate accessible toilet and shower room. Washing machines and dryers. Bar and takeaway, heated swimming pool with central water fountain and smaller children’s pool with water slide, covered pool, waterslide and a Jacuzzi (all open all season). Multisports court. Pétanque. Play area. Bicycle hire. Activities and entertainment programme. WiFi on part of site (charged). Only gas barbecues permitted.

Directions to Camping Sol à Gogo

St Hilaire-de-Riez is just off the D38 St Jean-de-Monts-St Gilles road. From north, turn right at L’Oasis hotel/restaurant in Orouët, signed to Les Mouettes. After 1.5 km. turn left at roundabout signed St Hilaire-de-Riez and site is 1.5 km. on the right.
