Camping Pico de la Miel
Spain, Madrid, La Cabrera
Alan Rogers Review
Pico de la Miel is a very large site 60 km. north of Madrid. Mainly a long stay site for residents of Madrid, there are a huge number of very well established and dated static caravans. There is a small separate area with its own toilet block for 75 touring units, all with 8A electricity (Europlug, long cables useful). This touring area, while sensibly separate, is well provided for and has a friendly – and rather quieter – international ambience. The pitches are on sandy grass. Trees give some shade on some pitches. There are also smaller pitches for tents (the ground could be hard for pegs). The noise level from the many Spanish customers is high and you will certainly have a chance to practise your Spanish!
Tall hedges abound and with the trees, make the site resemble a giant maze. Internal signs are now provided, easing the long walk to the pool. The site is well signed and easy to find, two or three kilometres southwest off the main N1 road, with an amazing mountain backdrop. At the site centre, there is an eating and food shopping complex. The vast majority of the site caters for Spanish permanent holiday units for visitors from Madrid.
Dated but clean, heated and tiled toilet block, with some washbasins in cabins. En-suite unit with ramp for disabled visitors. Laundry. Motorhome services. Gas supplies. Shop. Restaurant/bar and takeaway (1/6-30/9 and w/ends and B.Hs rest of year). Excellent swimming pool complex (15/6-15/9). Tennis. Playground. Car wash. First aid. WiFi throughout.
Site is well signed from the E5/A1. Going south or north use exit 57 and follow site signs. When at T-junction, facing a hotel, turn left. (Exit 57 is closer to the site than exit 60).
