Situated just 9 miles north of the Monfragüe National Park, this site is best located to engage with the abundant nature in this scenic area. The site is owned by the Barrado family and well managed by Luz. Many of the 130 touring pitches are on slightly sloping terraced ground with some having a degree of grass. Scattered trees offer some shade in the summer months, numerous water points, 10amp electricity, a refurbished large, clean toilet block, plus open all season: - shop, bar and restaurant with the terrace of the latter providing stunning sunsets as you enjoy a quality meal. Here you may well be welcomed at the entrance by White Storks aloft on their nest or drift off to sleep listening to Scops Owl interacting by call.

Declared as a National Park in 2007 and listed as a Special Protection area for birds, it is no wonder the areas popularity with birdwatching. Mirador de Salto is a firm favourite with fine views of Griffon, Black and even Egyptian Vultures. Moving about the park there is a strong chance of observing Spanish Imperial Eagle, Black and Red Kites, Black Stork and Eagle Owl besides numerous of the smaller species. Deer are often seen in the park.

Nearby Plasencia boasts a fine medieval aqueduct, C.14 cathedral and the towns impressive original walls containing 68 towers. To the south, Merida is renowned for its Roman ruins, Cáceres and Trujillo. A campsite worthy of an extended stay.

TV room with recreational facilities. Swimming and paddling pools (June-Sept). Play area. Tennis court. football field, Bicycle hire. Entertainment for children in season. Guided safaris into the park for birdwatching. Barbecue areas. WiFi near the bar (free).

Directions to Camping Parque Natural de Monfrague

From A66 take exit 470 onto the A1 toward Navalmoral de la Mata. From the A1 take exit 46 toward Trujillo following signs to Parque Natural de Monfrague. Site is on left after viaduct. Where this road enters the main Parque area (to the south), it does become narrow, and it may be advisable to avoid traveling its length to Trujillo with a motorhome or towed caravan.
