Alan Rogers Review
This attractive and tranquil site is one of those municipal gems one finds from time to time. Tucked away next to the pretty River Cousin, at the bottom of the hill on which Avallon stands, there are 94 medium to large pitches, of which 80 have access to electricity (16A). Long leads may be necessary on some smaller pitches. All are on grass except for three hardstandings, and are divided by shrubs and small trees. A separate eating room, with a tea and coffee machine and a microwave oven, is a welcome consideration for those under canvas. This is an excellent place to relax and break your journey when travelling south on the A6 motorway.
Avallon centre and medieval town is some 2 km. along a road that climbs gently to the town. It is well worth a visit, but as there is no bus route available, transport is advised for those less hardy. The friendly couple who run this site will be pleased to recommend places of interest.
Modern, clean and well maintained heated toilet block with washbasins in cabins and controllable showers. Baby room and excellent accessible facilities. Washing machine and dryer. Small well stocked shop (all season). Separate eating and coffee room. Bread to order. Bicycle hire. Play area. Free WiFi over site.
From A6 take J22 and follow D606 signed Avallon. At central crossroads (with traffic lights) turn left onto D944, signed Municipal Camping. Follow road for 2 km. and turn left immediately before the bridge over the River Cousin. Site is approximately 100 m. on left.Link to campsite location map on google
