Alan Rogers Review
Saint Vital is conveniently situated close to the attractive and historic town of Cluny (300 m. walk) with its magnificent abbey, next to the municipal swimming pool (free for campers), and alongside a Voie Verte route. This site has 174 pitches, two of which are occupied by chalets. On gently sloping grass, with some small hedges and shade in parts, 6A electricity is available (long leads may be needed). Some rail noise is noticeable during the day but we are assured that trains do not run between 23.30-07.00. On Monday and Thursday evenings during high season, there is a presentation of local produce in the ‘salle de réunion’.
The town also has the largest number of Roman houses in France, the National Stud farm, and don’t miss the Cheese Tower for the best views of Cluny. Ask for a free copy of ‘Cluny, Town of Art and History’, at reception or the tourist office.
Facilities
Two sanitary buildings provide British and squat style WCs, some washbasins in cubicles and controllable showers. Accessible Facilities. Motorhome services. Washing machine, dryer and ironing board. Shop (July/Aug). Outdoor swimming pool (June-Sept). Play area. WiFi by reception (charged). Two chalets to rent, one adapted for those with mobility issues.
Location
Site is east of town, by the D15 road towards Azé and Blanot. From A6 exit 29 take N79 north and then D980 signed Cluny. Site is signed from town.
