Alan Rogers Review of Camping Municipal la Prade
Superbly situated high on the mountainside overlooking a valley, this site has magnificent views of the Pyrenees, with a river (300 m) and a lake (2 km). A small site, it provides just 40 pitches on terraces, some of which are occupied by long stay units, all with access to electricity (10A). Well supervised, with the warden present at varying times, the site is kept very clean. A small stream tinkles through the edge of the site and the attractive hills towering above it reverberate with the sound of goat bells. A separate area has permanent brick barbecues for use by campers. A most reasonably priced campsite.
The staff will provide information on short, easy walks or longer, more strenuous climbs in this beautiful region. It is a short drive to the thermal spa town of Ax-les-Thermes with tennis courts, minigolf, swimming pool and a casino. The Parc Animalier d’Orlu (animal park) is worth a visit or perhaps the Butterfly Gardens near Rivel. White water rafting and canoeing are possible nearby.

Two sanitary blocks, one with accessible facilities. Washing machines and dryers. Small shop. Small play area. Library. Communal barbeques.

From Ax-les-Thermes take D613 towards Quillan for 4 km. Turn onto D52 and continue for 1 km. Follow site signs. Bear left at first junction up through Sorgeat village to site.
