This pleasant, well run municipal site occupies a fine position on the shore of the third largest natural lake in France, with views across to the distant hills. The 84 level, numbered pitches are on grass and 61 have electricity (16A). It could be used for an overnight stop if passing Pontarlier, but above all it is an ideal base for those who enjoy fishing, walking, cycling, or watersports. You can fish or swim in the lake and just outside the entrance you can have a drink at the open-air bar, hire canoes and rowing-boats or play boules and volleyball.

The village is just a 200 m. walk from the site entrance and has a hotel with bar and restaurant, and several small shops. The neighbourhood also provides a range of shops, craft shops and restaurants, a post office, tennis courts and heated swimming pools. Further afield are grottoes, waterfalls, the cliffs at Mont d’Or with views across to the Alps, the sources of the Doubs and Loue rivers and, across the Swiss border, Lake Neufchâtel. Lausanne on Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) is only 60 km. away.

Well maintained, traditional style central sanitary block is now fully enclosed and heated. Modern preset showers, warm water to washbasins (open-style except two for ladies). Hot water to dishwashing and laundry sinks. Basic en-suite accessible unit. Washing machine and dryer. Play area (2-6 yrs). Shop with terrace. Fishing and swimming in lake. Bicycle hire. Charcoal barbecues not permitted. WiFi over most of site (free).

Directions to Camping Municipal de Saint Point-Lac

The site is 70 km. southeast of Besançon. From Pontarlier take N57 south (Lausanne). After station, take exit for D437 towards Malbuison and in 5 km. turn right along west side of lake (D129) to St Point Lac; from south exit N57 at Les Hôpitaux-Neufs and turn west via D9 to lake then north on D129.
