Alan Rogers Review

This is a very small simple site with just eight touring pitches. Electricity connections are across a roadway and long cables are needed. Mainly used by motorhomes making a transit stop, there are also some 50 permanent pitches. It is apparently very special if you wish to sample traditional Spanish fare cooked to perfection whilst enjoying spectacular views. Look out for a 7 m. high white sculpture of a shepherd boy towering 25 m. over the site and the road as you approach.

The monument is famous. The shepherd boy was killed by a thunderbolt in 1959 whilst tending his sheep, accompanied by his dog who is also immortalised here, along with a lamb and a chapel dug into the rock. In high season, a small hut serves as reception, otherwise go to the bar. The site itself lies at the foot of Napoleon Hill. A large bar/restaurant provides magnificent views of the Obareues mountains and surrounding hills. The owner’s son speaks good English.

Facilities

Sanitary facilities are quaint, clean and adequate. Essentials sold in the bar. Fabulous stylish restaurant offering campers top Spanish cuisine or a special ‘menu del día’, also very popular with locals. Playground.
