This charming, small, family run campsite set in the village of Junas would appeal to those looking for a friendly, comfortable campsite with spacious pitches offering sufficient privacy and shade, and with a real French country feel to them. It lies to the southwest of Nîmes, 5 km. from the interesting medieval city of Sommières and conveniently situated for visiting Avignon, Orange and Nîmes. Even the beaches of the Mediterranean and the marshes of the Camargue are within a reasonable distance. There are 45 pitches with 24 for touring, shaded by olive trees all with 6/10A electricity (long leads may be necessary). Access for large outfits is not easy due to the narrow streets in the village and around the site. Some evening entertainment takes place during the summer season.
At Anduze (43 km) you can enjoy a trip on the small steam train to St Jean-du-Gard, stopping to visit the Bambouserie, home to more than 200 varieties of bamboo and 800 other species of plant. The Pont du Gard, the famous Roman aqueduct and UNESCO World Heritage Site is not to be missed; nearby is the Haribo Bonbon Museum.
Facilities at Camping l’Olivier
One centrally located and rather basic sanitary block has washbasins in cabins, good showers and accessible facilities. Washing machines. Shop for essentials. Takeaway (1/7-31/8). Small swimming pool and sunbathing terrace (1/5-30/9). Half court tennis, minigolf and boules. Playground. Charcoal barbecues are not permitted. Communal barbecue. WiFi throughout (charged).
Directions to Camping l’Olivier
From autoroute A9 take exit 26 (Gallargues). Head south on N313, shortly northeast D742 and then shortly northwest D142 to Aubais. Then take the D12 to Junas. The site is signed in village.
