In a pleasant island situation between the Rhine and the Canal d’Alsace, this site has views across the river to Breisach in Germany and is well situated to explore the Vosges and the Black Forest. There are 219 hedged pitches, most of which are available for touring. They vary in size and quality, some being quite level, others are rough and uneven. All have electrical connections and there is plenty of good shade from mature trees. There are currently just 14 mobile homes for hire. There are many fascinating towns in the area, including nearby Colmar and Mulhouse, whilst Strasbourg is an easy drive to the north.

Alternatively you could travel to Freiburg in Germany or Basle in Switzerland. For a more relaxing drive, you may wish to explore the little Alsatian towns and villages along part of the Route des Vins d’Alsace. The fortifications at Neuf-Brisach, a World Heritage Site, are just six kilometres away. They were built for Louis XIV by his architect Vauban in 1697. Across the river in Germany the corresponding town of Breisach is also well worth a visit with its hill-top church dominating the view from the campsite entrance.

Three well kept sanitary blocks (one heated) include washbasins in cabins and controllable showers. Cubicle or children and baby changing facility. En-suite accessible unit. Washing machines and dryer. Plans to reinstate the small shop, bar and restaurant for the new season. Large games room. Playground. Tennis and volleyball courts. Bicycle hire. WiFi in reception area (charged).

Directions to Camping L'Ile du Rhin

Biesheim is 18 km. southeast of Colmar. From A35 leave at exit 25 and take the D415 Freiburg road. Cross the bridge to the island and at roundabout before the German border, turn north into Zone de Loisirs (Nord) and follow signs to campsite.
