Alan Rogers Review of Camping les Saules
Les Saules is a fairly large campsite (190 pitches) that is divided in two by a busy main road, so care has to be taken with children. Pitches are divided by bushes and vary in size but larger units may have difficulty with the narrow access to many. Long electricity leads may be required. Half of the 57 touring pitches entail crossing the road to gain access to the swimming complex and beach. The pool complex with all the latest in slides, toboggans and palm trees is superb. Considerable ongoing work is being carried out to improve the toilet facilities on the site and should now include accessible facilities.
The location is excellent with the beach next to the site. The marina and the small town of La Forêt-Fouesnant are within walking distance. Evening craft markets are held at the marina in high season and the town has a large Sunday market, Bars, shops and restaurants are plentiful. And, of course, Concarneau (8 km) is one of the largest and busiest fishing ports in France.
Facilities at Camping les Saules
The two old toilet blocks (one on each side of the road) have been refurbished with new tiles and fittings. Toilets open onto the outside and rather cramped. Showers and wash cubicles are inside. Accessible Facilities. Washing machines and dryers. Small shop (15/6-10/9). Bar (15/6-10/9). Restaurant and takeaway (20/6-10/9). Swimming pool complex (20/5-15/9). Two small play areas (one next to the pool and not well fenced, the other not fenced at all). Games and TV room. Mobile homes to rent.
Directions to Camping les Saules
From the N165 take D70 south for 1 km. Turn west on D44 and follow signs to La Forêt-Fouesnant, then port (1 km). Site is well signed on the Route de la Plage.
