Just a short drive from the fishing village of Pornic, le Patisseau is a relaxed site with a large number of mobile homes and chalets, and is popular with young families and teenagers. The 67 touring pitches, all with electrical connections (10A), are in the forest with plenty of shade from mature trees. Some are on a slight slope and access to others might be tricky for larger units. A railway runs along the bottom half of the site with trains several times a day (but not overnight) and the noise is minimal.

The owners and their team work very hard to maintain a friendly atmosphere. The site’s spacious restaurant and bar overlook the indoor pool. Outside two waterslides are cleverly concealed amongst the trees. A number of communal barbecues are provided throughout the site, helping to create a sociable atmosphere. Pornic is an attractive and lively village with a busy marina and a factory shop selling Breton pottery and souvenirs. To the south, across the bay, is the Ile de Noirmoutier and northwards across the Saint Nazaire bridge are fashionable La Baule and the historic medieval town of Guérande and its nearby salt marshes.

Modern heated toilet block is very spacious and well fitted; most washbasins are open style, but the controllable showers are all in large cubicles which have washbasins. Also good accessible facilities. Laundry rooms. Shop (25/6-27/8). Restaurant, bar and takeaway (2/4-24/9). Indoor heated pool with sauna, jacuzzi and spa (all season). Small heated outdoor pools and water slides (30/5-24/9). Play areas. Bouncy castle. Multisports court. Bicycle hire. WiFi in bar area (charged).

Directions to Camping le Patisseau

Pornic is 48 km. west of Nantes via D273/D751 and 19 km. south of the St Nazaire bridge via D213. Access to site is at junction of D751 Nantes-Pornic road with the D213 St Nazaire-Noirmoutier Route Bleue. From north take exit for D751 Nantes. At roundabout take exit for le Patisseau and follow signs to site. Avoid Pornic town centre.
