Camping Le Moussaillon is a family-friendly site in south-western France between the Atlantic and a lake. The site has easy access to beaches of both the saltwater and freshwater sort, plus a heated and covered pool of its own. Facilities here include a restaurant-bar with a TV. Children as well as grownups are well catered for at this park, they have an outdoor play area and an indoor games room, plus places to rollerblade, scooter and skateboard around. The site is in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine resort of Messanges, a spot known for its surfing and other board sports. More active options include renting bikes nearby and flitting through the adjacent forest or strolling down to the peaceful Étang de Moïsan lake and lazing around by the water's edge. Other restaurants are in Messanges, a few minutes’ walk on foot, if you fancy a broader range of places to eat. In town there are also plenty of shops, including supermarkets where you can pick up snacks or supplies. The site has a total of 140 pitches of which 45 are for touring units.
This watery part of France is home to a lot of inland waters, Étang de Moïsan (30 minutes' walk), Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains (five minutes' drive) or the Étang de Léon (15 minutes). This latter spot is one of the biggest lakes in the Landes region and is more exposed to the elements, making it a bit more bracing for swimming but well-suited to sailing. Head to the sports centre on its southern edge to try it out for yourself. Adrénaline Parc (five minutes) is an activity centre set in a forest where you can set out on a high ropes course, zoom around on quad-biking safaris or get competitive over a game of paintball. If you are looking for something more relaxed, drive 45 minutes or so to the south and you will end up in Bayonne, a historic city with a Gothic-style cathedral, old half-timbered houses and a cracking covered market. |

Directions to Camping le Moussaillon
From the E5/A63 motorway take exit 11 to join the D46 towards Azur and then D50 to Messanges. From a roundabout in Messanges take the 3rd exit onto the D652 Route des Lacs. The site is then on the right off this road.
