Le Mont Bartoux has a fine setting in the Parc Livradois Forez, at an altitude of 650 m. and overlooking the Monts de Forez. This is an excellent centre for mountain biking (bicycle hire on site) and hiking. On site amenities include a bar and a small restaurant, and a new swimming pool. Pitches are grassy and some have fine, panoramic views towards the Puy de Dôme. Most are equipped with 6/10A electricity connections. A number of mobile homes and caravans are available to rent. There is plenty of activity here in July and August with regular pétanque competitions, accompanied cycling and walking trips and evening entertainment.

The large Lac d’Aubusson is 5 km. away and is a popular watersports and fishing centre. The nearest village to the site is Vollore-Ville, a beautiful, typically Auvergnat village with a fine château built by General La Fayette, and a good selection of shops, cafés and restaurants. The popular Vulcania theme park is within easy access and has a series of exhibits and attractions based around a volcanic theme.
