Alan Rogers Review of Camping le Helles
This is a delightful site with a very French feel. Out of its 130 pitches, 100 are used for touring (6/10A electricity). Access to the site is easy and sat-nav can be relied upon, the wide access road allows you to park your unit whilst checking in. Pitches are spacious level and separated by low hedges, sanitary and laundry facilities were very modern and cleaned throughout the day and offered easy access.
This site has two swimming pools one covered the other open and there is a bar/snack bar overlooking the pool area, across from the pool’s there is a modern children’s play area and a children’s club in high season. Reception houses tourist information and a well stock shop that sells a good selection of quality Breton products, larger supermarkets are also only a short drive away.
Once you leave the site you can walk, cycle or drive into Sainte-Marine which is a picturesque small port offering amazing seafood restaurants many right on the harbour-side, there is also a passenger ferry over the River Odet to some wonderful beaches. You can however access the beach at the Plage de Penmonvan (300m) direct from the site, a wide expanse of soft sand on the Atlantic Coast. This site sets a high standard and is an ideal location for exploring some of the most picturesque areas of Brittany.
Facilities at Camping le Helles
Excellent sanitary facilities include washbasins in cabins and controllable showers (some also with washbasins). Baby room and accessible facilities. Laundry facilities. Fresh bread and newspapers daily (July/Aug). Takeaway (July/Aug). New swimming pool. Play area. Boules. Bicycle hire, Children’s club (4-12 yrs, July/Aug). WiFi (free). Pets allowed.
Directions to Camping le Helles
Travelling west on D44 from Bénodet turn south on to C18 signed Combrit St Marine. Site is well signed at entry to village.
