Châteauneuf de Galaure is tucked away between Lyon and Valence at the heart of the Drôme department. This spacious site extends over 13 hectares, with 157 large, grassy touring pitches (mostly with 10A electricity connections). The River Galaure runs nearby, and three swimming pools are on site, including one for children and a large water slide. An artificial beach with soft white sand surrounds a lagoon of turquoise water, giving holidaymakers a chance to enjoy an authentic beach experience despite being in the heart of the Rhône-Alpes. Active holidaymakers will find enough things to do at the campsite with a selection of sports available such as football, ping-pong and petanque. With lively Kid’s Clubs featuring treasure hunts, sports competitions and dance parties, there’s so much for children to do. Even the evening entertainment keeps life alive at the resort with sociable amusements such as live shows, music concerts and themed parties.

The onsite restaurant is ideal for dining out with the family, serving up popular European dishes with views of the pool. The campsite has several other services and facilities, including a bar serving refreshing drinks throughout the day, a bakery providing fresh bread and pastries, a pizzeria, a snack bar, and a mini market.

Châteauneuf is a typically sleepy village with a couple of good restaurants and surrounded by some beautiful countryside. This is excellent walking and cycling country. Most visitors (and staff) at this site are Dutch, and little French is spoken. Châteauneuf has a fine Franciscan abbey which is currently being restored. A little further afield, Hauterives, is home to the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval. This is surely one of Europe’s most unexpected tourist sights, an amazing palace built by a postman over a period of 33 years.

Two swimming pools with water slides and children’s pool. Lagoon with sandy beach. Play areas. Children and teen clubs, Entertainment during high season, Tennis, Archery, Table tennis, Football field, Bicycle hire. WiFi. Pets Allowed.

Leave A7 autoroute, exit 12 (Chanas) then east D519 to Bougé-Chambalud. South D53 to Châteauneuf de Galaure. At roundabout turn right, site on left on leaving village. Poorly signed.
