Alan Rogers Review
This well appointed, family run site on the island of Noirmoutier has direct access across a dune to an extensive sandy beach, although swimming is only possible at high tide. It has good, heated pools and a variety of entertainment is arranged in high season. Most of the 103 reasonably level touring pitches are on sand behind the dunes. All have electricity (8A, Europlug) and are separated by bushes and the occasional maturing tree; there is little shade. The site has a very French ambience, with 192 privately owned mobile homes, plus 90 to rent.
Nearby are salt marshes and a nature reserve, an aquarium and a water theme park, and there are opportunities to walk, cycle, sail and windsurf. The island has a number of fine beaches and the little town of Noirmoutier en l’Ile offers a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants, plus markets and a large supermarket. For everyday needs there are places to shop, have a drink or eat out within walking distance from the campsite. The island is well known for the production of potatoes and salt – the famous Sel de Noirmoutier. Although you are advised to arrive via the bridge, the more adventurous may choose to visit the mainland via the causeway – le passage du Gois – only possible at low tide.
Three very clean sanitary blocks with preset showers and washbasins in cabins. Accessible Facilities. Washing machines and dryers. Motorhome service point. Small supermarket at entrance, bar, snack bar and takeaway (all 15/4-15/9). Heated indoor pool and paddling pool with sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and solarium.
