The present owners, M. and Mme. Gharbi, were the wardens of this simple, former municipal site and now lease it from the town. They have funded several developments since they took over in 2003 including a swimming pool, a snack bar, play area and new electrical hook-ups. The site is flat with easy access, and the large pitches are in avenues, separated by newly planted small shrubs. There is little natural shade. The new electric hook-ups (on 116 of the 148 pitches) are 6A. Outside high season this is a pleasant, reasonably priced place to stay while exploring the Bassin d’Arcachon with its bird reserve, oyster-beds, way-marked walks and cycle tracks.

This is a very tranquil site until the beginning of July. Audenge (800 m) is a lovely little town with a good choice of shops and restaurants. The Gharbis are very proud of their site, and this shows in the welcome and the high standard of maintenance.

Facilities at Camping le Braou

The single toilet blocks is very adequate. Some washbasins are in cubicles, pushbutton showers are preset. Toddler bath. Bar and snack bar (July/Aug). Swimming pool (1/4-31/8). Play area. Volleyball pitch. Internet access and WiFi over part of site (charged). Motorhome services and overnight pitches outside site. Mobile homes, wooden chalets, caravans and Trigano tents to rent.

Directions to Camping le Braou

From A63 take exit 22 onto A660 towards Arcachon. From A660 take exit 2 towards Facture, then D3 through Biganos to Audenge. In Audenge, at second roundabout turn right onto D5/E5, signed Camping Municipal. Site is in 600 m. on right.
