Alan Rogers Review of Camping le Bois du Valmarie
Pitches here are exclusively for mobile home and chalet accommodation. Le Bois du Valmarie is a member of the same group of sites as la Sirène (FR66560) and l’Hippocampe (FR66570) and run to the same high standards. The site has 181 pitches, the majority of which are available for booking via tour operators or the site itself (none available for touring) and is located south of the port, beside Racou beach. The site has a pleasant woodland location, which involves some up and down walking, and a range of amenities including a wonderful, heated swimming pool complex with waterslides and sea views. The sea is just 50 m. from the site entrance with a sandy beach - the sand has large grains so is not ideal for sand castles, but better when the wind blows!
The site has its own bar and a good restaurant at the entrance to the site (open to the public). Some entertainment is provided, but not on the scale of la Sirène, but Bois du Valmarie residents are welcome enjoy the entertainment and activities on offer there. This is a lovely site for familities with young children and the very smart toilet block even has a lily pond and goldfish! Popular with tour operators.
Facilities at Camping le Bois du Valmarie
One smart and fully equipped toilet block with accessible facilities. Supermarket, restaurant, bar, takeaway, swimming pool with waterslides and separate children’s pool (all open all season). Beach shop. Play area. Mobile homes to rent. Gas barbecues only. WiFi in reception area (charged).
Directions to Camping le Bois du Valmarie
Leave autoroute at Perpignan Sud exit and join the N114 southbound towards Argelès. Take exit 13 and follow signs to Le Racou. Site is well signed from here.
