This rural, wooded site nestles in an attractive valley northwest of Guadalupe, in the Extremadura region deep in central Spain. It's a simple, good value, friendly site surrounded by dramatic countryside threaded with countless walking and hiking trails (ask at reception for tips), and with imposing hills rising up on all sides. It's possible to walk into Guadalupe, an attractive historic tourist town with plenty of bars and restaurants.

The 50 pitches (25 with 10A electricity) are mostly long and narrow, informally set out among the abundant shady poplars and plane trees. Large units will experience difficulty. The site is co-located with hostel accommodation, and the bar/restaurant is in an adjacent building. This is a peaceful, relaxed spot, ideal for visiting the imposing but ornate 14th-century Monastery of St Mary (4 km) in Guadalupe, one of the country's most important religious monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993.

Facilities

The single toilet block is old but clean, with one area for women and one for men, providing WCs, washbasins and showers (hot water is from a 40-litre immersion heater which could be overwhelmed in busy periods). Location

From A5/E90 (Madrid-Mérida) take exit 178 at Navalmoral de la Mata. Follow south to Guadalupe on EX118 (83 km). Site is 2 km. south past Guadalupe. From further southwest take exit 294 off E90/NV (northeast of Mérida). Follow signs (Guadalupe). Near 72 km. marker turn left to site in 100 m.
