This spacious and attractive coastal site is in a very quiet and spectacular location bordering the sea and the Tina Mayor estuary. Most pitches have stunning sea and mountain views and there is access down to two small, sandy beaches. Otherwise, enjoy the pleasant kidney-shaped pool that also shares the fine views. With a capacity for 350 units, the site has many large, grassy pitches in bays or on terraces, all with 5A electricity available and connected by asphalted roads. There are some quite steep slopes to tackle – reception is at the top, as are the bar and restaurant; the latter has a terrace with fantastic views of the estuary and of the mountains beyond.

Children need to be supervised in some areas and less mobile campers may find the slopes difficult. There are other areas (very long cables needed if you want electricity), where you leave your car below and pitch your tent on the hillside. The second beach, on the far side of the site, is probably for the more adventurous as the access path is rather steep. Las Arenas is a very green, ten hectare site with lots of shade from acacias, oak and poplar trees, and is good value.

Modern, well tiled sanitary facilities are housed in three traditional, simple style buildings. Washing machines. Well stocked supermarket. Restaurant/bar and snack bar (all season). Outdoor swimming pool and children’s pool. Small playground. Riding and other activities can be arranged (collected from site). River and sea fishing. Torches helpful. English is spoken. No electric barbecues. WiFi throughout.

Directions to Camping Las Arenas-Pechón

On A8 from Santander, take km. 272 exit for Unquera (N621). Take first exit CA380 signed Pechón and site is 2 km. on left. From Oviedo/Gijón on A8/N634 at km. 272 take N621 slip-road for Unquera (do not join motorway), then as above.
