Alan Rogers Review
L’Arbre d’Or is a friendly, family site on the outskirts of Parentis-en-Born. There are 200 pitches here, most with electrical connections (10A). They are separated by small shrubs and have some shade from young trees. Around 90 pitches are occupied by mobile homes and chalets. L’Arbre d’Or lies 400 m. from the large Lac de Parentis where many watersports are available. The nearest coastal beach is at Biscarrosse Plage, 19 km. distant. The site boasts two swimming pools, one of which is covered in inclement weather, as well as a convivial restaurant and an activity programme.
Bicycle hire is available on the site and there are hundreds of kilometres of cycle trails through the surrounding forest. A litle further away the popular exhibition of the Landes countryside life is accessible by steam train from the Gare de Sabre (35 km). The Dune du Pyla, Europe’s highest sand dune, is a short drive to the north with its stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Landes forests. This is an area well known for seafood restaurants serving oysters from the local beds.
Two well located, clean toilet blocks have preset showers and facilities for disabled visitors. Washing machines. Bar, restaurant and takeaway (15/5-15/9; weekends in low season). Two heated swimming pools, a paddling pool and jacuzzi. Games room. Play area. Multisports court. Bicycle hire. Entertainment and activities in peak season. Communal barbecues. Mobile homes and chalets to rent. Free WiFi over site.
LocationFrom Bordeaux head south on the A63 and then the N10 as far as Liposthey. Then head west on the D43 to Parentis-en-Born. The site is well signed from here on the Route du Lac. Link to campsite location map on google
